During a chat with Saskboy last night I got to thinking about certain members of the blogging community, and what fictional characters they reminded me of. In particular I kept coming back to Jason Cherniak as the Reese Witherspoon character from Election… not for any physical resemblance, but just the general personality. Honestly, I can picture him saying:

No, they don’t ever have to work for anything. They think they can just all of a sudden one day out of the blue waltz right in with no qualifications what’s so ever and try to take away what other people have worked very, very hard for their entire lives. No, it didn’t bother me at all.

But I digress. I’ll keep the rest of my blogger-fictional character resemblances close to my chest for now; but I’d be curious to know who some of you come up with? Who do I remind people of (Doesn’t have to be me though. I can be inscrutable to some…)

Red Tory reminds me of Barry Champlain, the character played by Eric Bogosian in the movie “Talk Radio.”

  • Gosh, if I only could remember where I compared Cherniak to Tracy in Election a long time ago. But even more, he reminds me of the Karl Rove-esque Richard Dreyfuss character in Silver City, but with Augustus Gloop’s upbringing, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (book or either movie, though the recent one comes most to mind when I think of Cherniak).

CalgaryGrit reminds me of Robert Redford in The Candidate. Quite a bit, actually. That Dan is the man, no question.

ChuckerCanuck reminds me of Captain Kirk - likes to rely on good humour to cajole people, well read, gets impassioned and chews people out sometimes, but they seem to still like him.

KNR reminds me of Veruca Salt.

Penny reminds me of Erin Brockovich - the Julia Roberts one.

Olaf reminds me of a hybrid creature with the pranks and (likeable) tantrums of Bart and the devotion to reading of Lisa.

Paul Wells reminds me just of Lisa.

Although this is only my third visit, you remind me of Alvy’s second wife in Annie Hall.

Kate MacMillan reminds me of Damion in The Omen, or Regan in the Exorcist (holy cow, I astonish myself remembering her name).

Robert McClelland reminds me of Jean Simmons in Star Trek Next Generation, Admiral Satie, the one whose father was the Wendell Holmes of Starfleet, and prosecuted Simon Tarses for being half-Romulan, rather than half-Vulcan as he claimed, and then Captain Picard for aiding the Borg while assimilated. Her ruthlessly unfair style of debate, her knowing dishonesty, and her refusal to listen to any other side but her own counsel scream Robert (note: she at least had a veneer of class and warmth that fooled people, though)

Liberal Catnip reminds me of Deanna Troi.

Adam Daifallah reminds me of Walter J Peck in Ghostbusters. Or the same actor in Die Hard, it’s pretty much the same character.

    Ohhh, this was fun.

  • Ha!

    Wait, was I just insulted?

  • I have always worshipped Walter J Peck.

  • It always seemed to me that he was asking extremely fair questions, it’s just that he went about asking them in a profoundly asshole-ish fashion.

  • Hi, I wish to let all of you bloggers / internet users know about a whole new Search Engine called Braxea. Its pretty dam cool… It combines Google, Bing and Yahoo into one and in addition lets you search for videos on YouTube and News throughout the net. Maybe this can end up being the new Google ?
