Well I don’t quite have highspeed yet, but for some reason the wireless broadcast from across the street (which we’re allowed to use, relax…) is coming through much better today, so I can post in comfort for a bit. There’s not much to say, but there is plenty to show. I suppose I should talk about what I’m doing a bit.
Basically I’m living in an apartment with four other people (perhaps going up to six or seven.) The guy to the left is Dave, he’s an Aussie and we share a room.
I work the front desk of the Lake Louise Alpine center, the hostel that I mentioned in earlier posts. At night I come home to chill a bit, eat (food is a pain in the ass here, but we get 40% of the cafe bill and the food there is amazing), and hang out at any of the bars around the village. Then, on the day off, I hike/write/sleep. Ok, on to the good stuff…
Being in this place is unreal. I could trip, have my camera spill out of my pocket and accidentally snap a picture, and it’d look professional. Case in point, the picture to the left. I took this standing at the side of the highway on the way to Lake Louise. I turn the camera forty-five degrees to the right and you’re looking at Lake Louise Express (or whatever it’s called.) Or here’s another shot, this one of Mount Hawthorne. The picture on the right is literally the view from my driveway in the morning.
Of course no photo expose of Lake Louise would be complete without two of the biggest attractions around here, the Lake itself and a grizzly bear. If the photo of the bear looks fuzzy there’s a good reason. It was taken in a ski lift on a cloudy day from about seventy-five metres.
