Well we’re rapidly approaching crunch time as far as the election is concerned, if the Liberal blogger emails I’m getting for some reason are any indication:
This week has looked bad in the polls. However, I hope you have all noticed that the Conservatives have been gradually losing their lead in the past few days. The election is far from over and I expect that each and every one of you will continue to support the Liberal cause on your personal blogs and Progressive Bloggers.
It’s pretty sad that in the same week where Stephen Harper announces a policy which has failed miserably whereever it has been tried (I’m talking about mandatory minimum sentences) and announces a tax cut which will be paid for with a tax increase, that the polling data is so strong for them. The sad truth (and Warren Kinsella has it right) is that the Liberals are directionless under Martin in governance and in campaigning. Whether this is a result of Martin’s own leadership, or the people he has surrounded himself with I will leave to the experts. But if they lose this election, and they very well could, they’ll have nobody to blame but themselves.
More on Mandatory Minimum Sentences tomorrow.
Ok, music time. I wasn’t quite sure where to go this week, so I’m going to go with a band that I am personally ambivalent about. The Silver Hearts are a kind of bluesy-rootsy jugband orchestra, with a real soft and friendly sound. I saw them live at the Montreal House in Peterborough and was underwhelmed, but the more of them I hear, the more I like. Check them out if you get the chance.
