I hadn’t planned on returning from the holidays until tomorrow (most likely in the afternoon…), but I figure I should squeeze one last posting before the calendar turned to 2006. Besides, I have some news to share. Coming at some point this spring yours truly will be posting regularly (2 to 3 times per week) over at Sports Logs, a new website aiming to feature blogs for every professional (major sport) sports team. I’ll be writing the Blue Jays page naturally, so keep your eyes open. Apparently I can win some sort of prize if I get regular readers, so stay tuned for news on that. Anyways, just thought I’d stop in and say hello, and wish everyone a yom tov.

I will return to my regular schedule (posts every sunday, then once or twice during the week) starting tomorrow.

Debate watch #1

ElectionFiled under: Election
By: Joseph @ 8:59 pm

Some quick hits as I am watching and listening to the debate, colour coded by party. I wish I had started this right at 8pm, but I was playing Scrabble with my grandmother. Ok, I’ll have detailed responses to the debate tomorrow.

8:53 - Jack Layton needs to stop sucking Ed Broadbent’s cock on national television. Seriously, this borders on the absurd. He’s trotting out good old Ed every chance he gets, and all he’s accomplishing is reminding people that he remains an unknown quantity as a party leader.

8:57 - Jack Layton just answered a question about parliamentary decorum by saying his party has more women. Where is he going with this? Either he’s completely off base, or he’s suggesting that women are by nature more respectful and docile… and he’s being an ass no matter which is the case.

8:58 - Good god, Paul Martin just agreed with him that women are more pleasant. My hat is off to you sir. (Continue reading…)

I think we can all agree that watching this election has been incredibly boring. I mean, there have been no outrageous screwups, no evident scandals (income-trust leakage notwithstanding) and no real bell-ringer issues… at least not yet. Perhaps I’m just experiencing fatigue because this campaign started about a year and a half ago. Regardless of why, I have never felt less motivated about a political campaign, and you’re listening to a guy who is too lazy to get out of bed in the afternoon to turn his computer on so he can read his email.

Whether I’m apathetic, cynical, or just a schmuck, I’ve decided to channel my energy towards a slightly different project. While I still encourage everyone to vote (I will), I am making it my goal from here on in to make every voting Canadian resent their party for forcing this shitty election on us. (Continue reading…)

Back in the saddle

My LifeFiled under: My Life, Announcements

As you guys know I got a job a few weeks back at Kitchen Stuff Plus about a month ago. Coincidentally, I haven’t been posting much. I wish I could say I was just so busy with work that I didn’t have time for this kind of thing, but that wouldn’t be fair or honest. No, the fact of the matter is that I had tonnes of free time over the past month, time which I just couldn’t seem to utilize for anything productive… which is of course a shame since there has been much that needs to be done around here.

So, am I back? Yes. I was actually fired on friday, which was kind of a drag. Now before you start leaping to conclusions, no I am not incompetent, and no I wasn’t stealing on the job or slacking off. The reality is that this company isn’t what one would call “expertly” managed, and my store hired too many seasonal staffers. When I turned down a permanent job with them a few weeks back I probably put my head right n the block. (Continue reading…)
