Mucho herpes… grande!

You and I both know that quizzes and “memes” are the most popular non-niche element of blogs nowadays. The comments on this blog (and others) attest to that fact pretty clearly. That being said, they’re not the most substantive of expressions. Since I’ve been completely burned out about politics ever since last thursday (I’ll explain later), I have been having an impossible time trying to come up with some sort of commentary on the whole Gomery/Election thing. I’ve spent the last couple of days waffling between taking the time to do a good, detailed and considerate post on the state of affairs in Canadian politics, and just some more pop culture fluff. My dilemma is the fact that nobody reads my blog for the stuff I find interesting (Canadian politics) and the stuff that’s more fluff-ish attracts my friends.

Being the clever boy that I am though, I’ve managed to figure out a solution. I will enjoy the best of both worlds by talking about my personal favourite movie: Dark City. This way I get to be the arrogant, erudite know-it-all I love and everyone else hates, and I get to talk about something that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. And of course, even though it’s two days late, I will attach a new song and review below. (Continue reading…)

Guns N’ Roses did it first!

Well, sorry for the delay. I got sick, then had an OCD issue today. I am going to talk about Gomery, and I’ll even sing a song about it (probably tomorrow)… but not before I take the time to point out something new on the blog. Specifically, my blog’s new jukebox. Now, as anyone who lets me pester them on MSN know (or even my cousin Adam who visited with his wife Sarah), I love to pimp Canadian music. In case the decor didn’t convince you, I am a tried-and-true Canadian and I suppose I’ve adopted the Can-con mentality pretty strongly. Needless to say I’ve developed an appreciation for Canadian music as well as a semi-decent CD collection of the same.

Now, in addition to pestering people about Canadian music, I also enjoy playing it for anyone who will listen or is too shy to say no. I do this with my shoutcast stream (email me if you want more details on that) or by mailing CD’s. Thanks to the wonders of the internets, I have another option. If you will notice on the sidebar below the search feature, there is now a little jukebox. (Continue reading…)

All paid jobs degrade and absorb the mind

My LifeFiled under: My Life
By: Joseph @ 12:29 am

Well, it’s true. Joseph Krengel, the man that hasn’t had a job paying more than $8.15 in the last five years, has a job. Of course, it pays $8.00, but it’s full time now. Since I’m done with school, but I don’t have a degree as of yet, I have lots of time, and no cash with which to enjoy it. So I decided to go out and see what sort of seasonal work I could find. Turns out that I will be working for KitchenStuff Plus for the next couple of months. Of course, it could turn into a full-time position if I do well, but there’s a wrinkle. I’d have to kill myself if after five years of university I took the first low-paying, zero-thought retail job that came my way. In fact, I have standing orders for one of my readers to come and execute me (I will pay the expenses) if I am still working this job in the new year… oh and if any of you would be willing to offer your services for free, just email me.

Of course, being me, there’s a complication. For at least part of the duration, I will be working with my sister. In fact, I will be working under her. I am not looking forward to that particular aspect of my employment; but it’s a job.

What is perhaps more exciting is that I am once again on a hot streak. Despite the fact that I am chronically underemployed, or flat out jobless, I have now been hired coming out of eight of my last ten job interviews. If only I could figure out a way to actually get an interview for a good job, I’d be set.

I will by the way be posting about the Gomery report, and the various responses, tomorrow. Stay tuned.
